Serving and Honoring Veterans

Few people know service and sacrifice quite like veterans. And as much as they have taken care of us, we are committed to caring for them with specialized care, honor and support.

When veterans are living with an illness and approaching the end of life, we are here to serve them with expert care, understanding and compassion. Our teams support veterans’ personal goals and needs, including any type of suffering from their time in the military or service-connected conditions. The focus is to achieve comfort and resolution for veterans so they can live and pass on peacefully. Families of veterans also receive support, guidance with health care decision making and connection to beneficial resources. Services include trained veteran volunteers, military service recognition ceremonies, a Level Five Partner, the highest designation of the We Honor Veterans program, Veterans History Project and Honor Flight®.

Veterans Serving Veterans

Our specially-trained volunteers and staff conduct video or audio interviews of veterans in our care and veterans who participate in our Community Story Days.

Veterans History Project
The Veterans History Project collects first-hand accounts of combat veterans’ military experiences for future generations. Our specially-trained volunteers and staff conduct video or audio interviews of veterans in our care. The recordings are then submitted and archived in the Library of Congress. Participants receive a copy of their interview, a certificate of participation and a record of where their stories are archived.
We Honor Veterans

We are a Level Four Partner of the We Honor Veterans (WHV) program. WHV is a National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO) initiative in collaboration with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). We are committed to WHV’s mission of respectful inquiry, compassionate listening and grateful acknowledgment of the veterans we serve. Working with the VA, veteran service organizations and other community partners, we are able to provide many specialized programs and services that honor and support veterans.

Honor Flight

The Honor Flight® Network transports American war-era veterans to their memorials in Washington, D.C. free of charge. Top priority is given to veterans in hospice care and/or of the World War II period. In collaboration with the Honor Flight West Central Florida hub, we assist with applications and coordination of flights for veterans in our care. We also host flight orientations and Honor Flight at Home events that recreate the experiences for community veterans who are not healthy enough to travel to Washington, D.C.
